Though it leaked last week, the details are now official-- World of Warcraft : Wrath of the Lich King Classic is scheduled to release on September 26.
To commemorate the occasion and to help new or returning players who want to revisit the popular MMO's 2008 expansion, Blizzard has enabled a bonus XP event for Burning Crusade Classic servers from now until the launch of the expansion which it is calling "Joyous Journeys." This boosts XP gained by 500%. This should go a long way towards helping players prepare their characters for expansion launch day.
September 26 may be the day when players finally venture into the newly created continent Northrend and begin to fight an army of Lich King. But the expansion's pre-patch is actually bringing an event that is limited in duration as well as new classes, fresh Wrath of the Lich King servers for those interested as well as the brand-new Death Knight hero class several weeks before the expansion's release. Blizzard has not yet announced what time the pre-patch might be available or how long it will last, but details will be revealed soon.
Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be based on the final patch of The original Wrath of the Lich King but with some minor changes.
